Do Not Look Away: The Life of Arthur Lipsett
Arthur Lipsett was one of Canada's most pioneering and visionary filmmakers. His innovative avant-garde pieces have influenced countless filmmakers including Stanley Kubrick, George Lucas and Guy Maddin. Lipsett's first film, "Very Nice, Very Nice" (1961), was nominated for an Academy Award. He made several other award-winning short films and documentaries while working at the National Film Board of Canada in the 1960s. Unable to support himself after leaving the board in 1970, Lipsett fell into poverty and suffered from mental illness. He took his own life in 1986.
